During our Mindfulness Backpacking Retreat we will spend three days and two nights in the backcountry of the Olympic National Park. The purpose of our backpacking program is to create a space for women to enhance their knowledge of backpacking and enjoy the outdoors together. Over the weekend our instructors (Wilderness First Responders and Leave No Trace educators) are available to help you learn the basics of backpacking and answer any questions you may have.
Over the weekend you will have the opportunity to participate in meditation practices, mindful walking sessions and daily yoga. Mindfulness practice has been shown to improve one’s ability to manage stress and anxiety. From the high peaks of the Himalayas to the rolling hills of Ireland, people have been hiking as a way to show devotion to the gods. During our Mindfulness Backpacking Retreat, we ask you to show this commitment and belief towards yourself.
Staying energized and nourished on the trail is a top priority, and just because you’re in backcountry doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in tasty food. Over the weekend our group learn tips on how to make simple and nutritious backcountry meals. And of course, treats. We strong believe long days of hiking are made easier with a sweet end to the day.

We generally have a wide range of ages at our retreats. The average tends to fall anywhere between the ages of 26 to 45. But we have had quite a few women in their 60's join as well. It really is up to the attitude and physical ability of the participant.
