Backpacking offers a wide range of physical and mental benefits, including increased fitness, stress relief, and a deeper connection to nature. By challenging yourself in a new environment and stepping outside of your comfort zone, you'll also have the opportunity to develop resilience, self-reliance, and a sense of accomplishment. Backpacking with She Moves Mountains is transformative experience that will leave you feeling empowered, inspired, and connected to the world around you.
Our yoga sessions are designed to help you connect with your body, breath, and the world around you, while also building strength, flexibility, and balance. You'll also have the chance to participate in a guided meditation session, designed to help quiet your mind, reduce stress, and cultivate a deeper sense of inner peace and clarity. Whether you're an experienced yogi or new to the practice, the yoga and mindfulness portion of the retreat is sure to leave you feeling refreshed, rejuvenated, and inspired.
Staying energized and nourished on the trail is a top priority, and just because you’re in backcountry doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in tasty food. Over the weekend our group will learn tips and tricks for simple and nutritious backcountry meals. And of course, treats. We strong believe long days of hiking are made easier with a sweet end to the day.

We are excited to share that we plan to host this weekend at Ross Lake, a stunning glacial lake with crystal-clear waters in the North Cascades. This is our first time planning to use this area, and as with any outdoor activity, we need to obtain a permit before we can hold an event there. We have submitted the necessary paperwork, and we are eagerly awaiting approval. If, for any reason, we are unable to secure the permit in time for the event, our back plan is to host the event on the Enchanted Valley trail, a beautiful area (see above) with towering old-growth trees, a picturesque meadow and a historic backcountry chalet.
We are confident that either location will provide an unforgettable experience for everyone and hope to share this special weekend with you soon. Thanks for bearing with us as we grow program!
"The trip is well organized and I got meet so many awesome people. I love the smaller group size which made the experience more intimate. I was pushed out of my comfort zone which will make me more confident in my next backpacking trips.
Stop overthinking and just do it! No regrets. SMM people are very supportive and welcoming. They also provide gear if you need it, a great way to try out backpacking without committing."

"I had so many favorite parts. First off, I really enjoyed the first night at Graves Creek Campground, it was just a great opportunity to ease into the backpacking trip by getting to know everyone, chat about gear and our intentions for the trip, and then also how to properly load up our packs with all of our stuff. Then the next day, we headed out for Pyrites Creek and it was such a nice hike into our destination, we all continued getting to each other, the weather was great, and it just felt wonderful to be outside and in nature with everyone.
But, my most favorite part was our day hike to Enchanted Valley because when I saw it for the first time, it took my breath away, it is just such a really beautiful area. We also spent time eating lunch, soaking our feet in the river and chatting about being mindful and when we are our most authentic selves and what brings us joy, and the sun was out, so it was just a really great day! Other favorite parts included doing yoga by the river before bed, learning about about the 10 essentials and Leave No trace, and just spending the fews days with some rad ladies I met for the first time on that trip. Which, side note, we also saw a bear in the distance up on a fallen tree on our hike out on our last day, so that was also pretty amazing!"

The majority of women come to our retreats alone - somewhere around 90%. If you are hesitating to join because you would be coming solo, please know that we expect a majority of our participants to be joining by themselves, seeking community.
We generally have a wide range of ages at our retreats. The average tends to fall anywhere between the ages of 26 to 45. But we have had quite a few women in their 60's join as well. It really is up to the attitude and physical ability of the participant.
