In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adjusted our operations based on advice from industry leaders and health professionals. Luckily, climbing gets us outside where risk of possible transmission is quite low. According to a recent study published in The Journal of Infectious Disease less than 10% of reported cases of COVID-19 can be attributed to outdoor spread. All participants undergo a multi-step screening process, prior to events as well as day of. Masks are mandatory whenever physical distancing is not possible and all rental gear is quarantined and sanitized between individual uses. Guides are equipped with hand sanitizer to be used between pitches and participants are encouraged to bring their own and use belay gloves.
For our multi-day events, we are moving to an all outdoor, camping model so that we can enjoy our time together safely! With the exception of the retreat at Smith Rock in which case everyone will have their own room and a private entrance. We require that everyone get tested for covid one week prior to the event or provide proof of vaccination. All group camps will be equipped with hand washing stations and any food is prepared by proper food handling standards. We encourage participants to drive their own vehicles if possible; but for guests needing transportation, we will rent a large enough vehicle so that we can accommodate ample distancing in addition to mask wearing and open windows.
