The Details

BACKPACKING

During our Multi-day backpacking Retreat we will spend four days and three nights exploring either the Hoh River Trail on the Olympic National Park, Gothic Basin near the North Cascades and Marmot & Jade Lake in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. The purpose of our Multi-day backpacking program is to create a safe space for women to enhance their skills and enjoy the outdoors together.  Over the weekend our instructors (Wilderness First Responders and Leave No Trace practitioners) are available to help you and answer any questions you may have.

MEALS

Staying energized and nourished on the trail is a top priority, and just because you’re in backcountry doesn’t mean you can’t indulge in tasty food. Over the weekend our instructors will create nutritious plant-based meals for the group and share tips on how to make simple and healthy backcountry meals. And of course, desserts. We strong believe long days of hiking are made easier with treats at the end of the day.

WHAT IS THE AVERAGE AGE OF THE WOMEN WHO ATTEND?

I'VE NEVER BACKPACKED BEFORE. CAN I STILL ATTEND?

ABSOLUTELY. We will teach everything from how to pack a backpack to cooking gourmet meals in the back country. However to maintain a positive experience for everyone hikers need to be able to hike up to 8 miles a day at the speed of 1.5 MPH with 800 feet of elevation gain, while wearing a backpacking weighing 30-40 pounds.

COVID PROTOCOLS

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

I'VE NEVER BACKPACKED BEFORE. CAN I STILL ATTEND?

Working with industry leaders, She Moves Mountains has developed a detailed COVID response plan in line with CDC recommendations. What this will look like for participants is daily temperature checks, daily covid symptom evaluations, frequent hand washing/sanitizing, and mask wearing anytime we cannot maintain 6 feet of physical distance between each other. We have also decreased the number of participants to a maximum of 4. Further screening may be required prior to the event as protocols evolve.
